What's unusual about Monzo statements

  • Pot transfers appear as dedicated rows in the statement and are preserved as transactions in the CSV — important if your accountant reconciles Pot balances.
  • Round-ups are kept as individual transactions so the sum of paid_out in the CSV matches the statement total.
  • Merchant descriptions include the full merchant name and location (e.g. "Tesco Metro Liverpool St") rather than just a short code.
  • Foreign currency transactions show the original amount, exchange rate, and sterling conversion inline in description.
  • Monzo Business statements use the same layout as personal accounts with added category metadata.

How to download your Monzo statement PDF

  1. Open the Monzo app.
  2. Tap your account, then Statements.
  3. Select the month you need.
  4. Choose Download PDF.
  5. Upload the PDF to StatementCSV and export as CSV or Excel.

Note: Monzo also offers a native CSV export. Use StatementCSV if you need the normalized schema (date, transaction_type, description, paid_in, paid_out, balance) for accountant handoff or cross-bank consolidation.

Frequently asked questions

How do I download my Monzo statement as a PDF?

Open the Monzo app, go to your account, tap Statements, pick a month, and choose Download PDF.

Does StatementCSV handle Pot transfers and round-ups?

Yes. Pot transfers appear as rows with "Pot transfer" in description. Round-ups are kept as separate transactions so totals match the statement.

Are Monzo Business and Premium fees exported?

Yes. Monzo Business statements convert using the same pipeline, and subscription fees (Premium, Plus) appear as dated paid_out transactions.

What happens to foreign currency purchases?

The sterling amount goes into paid_out; the original currency amount, exchange rate, and merchant name are preserved in description.
